Former Black Stars goalkeeper, Alhaji Doodo Ankrah has admonished handlers of our national teams to have the welfare of players at heart.
According to the 1963 AFCON winner, the welfare of the players of our national teams should be our top most priority.
Speaking to Mr Jerome Otchere on GtvSports+, Mr Doodo Ankrah revealed that they had no winning bonuses during their time of play but were rather given jobs by the state after their heroics in the 1963 African Cup of Nations.
“We were given transport back home, not winning bonus. We were given jobs by the state. It was enough to die for Ghana. We had pride in the playing for our country. We must take care of our players well”, he told GtvSports.
Mr Doodo Ankrah further recounted the role of the Youth of Nsawam Adoagyire played in their 1963 Afcon heroics.
“Youths of Adoagyire Nsawam helped us a lot. We were so proud of them. They guarded the Black Stars camp in 1963 against intruders as we camped for the Cup of Nations. That was their patriotic role.”
Alhaji Doodo Ankrah made his Black Stars debut in 1957 and went on to win the African cup of Nations(1963& 1965).
