Black Stars Captain, Andre Ayew has reiterated how proud he feels to wear the national team colours.
According to the former Olympique Marseille star, there is a weight of responsibility that comes with wearing the national Jersey which he takes personal.
"There's a weight of responsibility that comes with this jersey," he emphasised. "For me, it's deeply personal. The national team is incredibly important to me and my family's life."
"It's not about personal gain," Ayew continued, "it's about pride. Every time you step onto the field in this jersey, you have to push yourself beyond your limits to make a lasting impact."
"We have a young squad who are now understanding what it means to play for the team," Ayew further explained.
"They started playing abroad at a young age, unlike the old generation who came through the local league."
He emphasizes the challenges faced by these young players: "They tend to cope more with what they're experiencing abroad. So coming back to Ghana to readapt to our culture and values is not easy."
Following a stellar performance with Le Havre last season, Ayew missed out on the latest national team squad which raised a lot of eyebrows.
Ayew is currently a free agent after leaving French Ligue 1 side Le Havre.
