Speaking on Joy news on Friday afternoon, the former Sunderland hit man lauded the Le Havre forward for his significant contributions to the nation.
He further stated that he wouldn't have been happy if he was to be the one given such treatment.
"Despite Andre Ayew's significant contributions to the Black Stars, the team needs to move on from his dropping from the Black Stars squad.
"For me, Andre has done so much for Ghana. He started way back in 2007 and he has been consistent in the national team. He is the most capped player," Gyan told Joy Sports.
"The coach has made his decision. Personally, I played with Andre and he has done everything for Ghana but this is the situation whereby we have to move on,"
"If it was me, I won't be happy, but we have to support the coach's decision", he added.
Head coach Otto Addo left Andre Ayew out of Ghana's 26-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic.
Andre Ayew had quite a good season in France, scoring five goals in 13 starts for Le Havre and helping the team avoid relegation.
