Michael began his campaign in the group stage with a tough opening loss to Tunisia, falling 1–3 in a best-of-five encounter. However, he bounced back strongly with a dominant 3–0 victory over Sudan and was awarded a walkover win against Guinea, securing his spot in the knockout stage.
In the round of 16, Michael made quick work of Bradley Camille Marseille of Cameroon, producing a clinical straight-sets win: 11–6, 11–1, 11–4. His composure and precision left no room for doubt.
The quarterfinal match was a seven-set thriller against Uganda’s top seed, Luwooza Imran. Michael showed tremendous fighting spirit, recovering from multiple setbacks to edge out a dramatic 4–3 win with scores of 10–12, 11–9, 8–11, 12–10, 6–11, 11–6, 11–9.
With this victory, Michael Agyapong Mensah advances to the semifinal, where he will face Rakotondrazaka Rahndy Steffe of Madagascar in what promises to be another high-stakes encounter.
