Ghanaian winger Martin Boakye emerged as the match-winner, scoring the lone goal in Qingdao Hainiu's 1-0 triumph over Shenzhen Peng City in the Chinese Super League on Saturday.
The victory tipped the head-to-head record further in Qingdao Hainiu's favor, now standing at three wins to Shenzhen Peng City's one.
Despite Shenzhen Peng City's dominance in possession and shots, it was Boakye who made the decisive impact.
In the 30th minute, he struck a right-footed shot from the right side of the box into the center of the goal, following an assist from Wang Jian-Ming. The goal was confirmed after a VAR review.
Boakye, who started and played the full game alongside Chinese striker Jiabao Zhong and Zambian winger Evans Kangwa, has been a standout performer this season. The 29-year-old has made 23 appearances and scored an impressive ten goals in the 2024 Chinese Super League.
Qingdao Hainiu will aim to continue their winning momentum as they face Wuhan Three Towns in their next league game on September 15th.
