Exchequers and GRA lead Men's A and Women’s Division Table

Exchequers bounced back in style from their opening round defeat to Army in the 2025 Salpholda Hockey League, beating GRA 3-0 at the Theodosia Okoh Hockey Pitch. The match was not only about supremacy but also crucial league points as the title race intensifies.
Exchequers, who were third on the league log after their 3-2 loss to Army, came determined to keep their title defence alive. GRA, on the other hand, sought revenge and to protect their position at the summit. Their first round meeting saw Exchequers thrash GRA 7-0.
A penalty corner in the 12th minute gave Exchequers the lead through the stick of Kofi Okyere Quagraine. Six minutes later, a fast break exposed GRA’s defence, forcing a penalty stroke that was expertly converted by Elrom Akaba to double the lead.
Despite mounting pressure from GRA, the defending champions held firm, thanks to goalkeeper Benjamin Acquah’s heroics and solid defending from his back three. Quagraine sealed the win in the 57th minute, netting his second of the day and bringing Exchequers’ tally against GRA this season to 10 goals.
Captain Bempah was satisfied with the result but admitted there was room for improvement; "we were wasteful upfront, we did not utilise the chances we got, but GRA are equally a good side," he said. "Every game is a tough game, and our opponents come all out against us, but we are in for one mission, to defend our title and defend it well. We won’t underestimate any team. We will go hard and defend our title."
The victory lifts Exchequers back to the top of the table with 17 points. They face Arkmen next, with their first-round clash ending in a 3-3 draw.
